Hex Flange Nuts & Hex Flange Lock Nuts

Hex flange nut is a hexagon nut incorporates with a flanged or washer-like base, which is a wide area on the bottom of the nut that extends outward past the typical diameter of the nut. A hex flange nut allows the pressure of the nut to be displaced over a wider area than a plain nut would allow. Hexagon Slotted Nuts and Castle Nuts

Hex slotted nut or castle nut is a hex nut with opposed slots cut into the top of the nut through the centers of the flats. The slots are on the end opposite the bearing surface. The slots are for the insertion of a cotter pin to secure the nut when used with a drilled shank fastener.
